HW and SW Tools of Digital Signal Processing

2. Lecturers:

dr. Peter Pfliegel Department od Telecommunications
dr. Gaál József Department od Telecommunications
dr. Pápay Zsolt Department od Telecommunications

3. Pevious Study Requirements:

Subjects is based on knowledge of Programming, Telecommunications, Digital Circuits and Measurements.
Terms discussed in subjects Digital Circuits and Programming are mainly supposed to be known.

4. Aim:

Aim of the subject is to present the HW and SW tools od today's DSP technology. Besides that, the subject bridges 'Digital Signal and System Analysis' running in parallel and 'DSP Laboratory' presented in the next semester.

The concept and depth of discussion provides on the one hand a general background of growing and changing DSP tools, on the other hand it gives details for the tools used in the laboratory to promote efficient work during labs in the solution of the task itself.

5. Topics:

A. Signal Digitization and Reconstruction

Funcional Decomposition. Universality and Signal Specific Features.
Input and Output Architectures, Signal and Data Interface, Dynamic Classification.
Communication Interfaces. Dedicated Hardware, Software Support.

B. Signal Processors

DSP Architectures. On-Chip Resources, Off-Chip Periferials, Interfacing.
Multiphase Clock, Pipeline Operation. Fixed and Floating Point CPU. Numerical Issues.
Mnemonic and Algebraic Instruction Set, DSP-specific Instructions. Parallel Processing.
